Imho

Really? Eighty bucks so you can put your top down without holding the button? As far as best bang for the buck, I don't think this makes the cut. Just my opinion.

Where in the world did you get a short shifter kit for $56?! The only ones I can find for the Boxster are $250+

I think the short throw shifter was one of the best mods I made. I went with a Schnell which was about $160. It's lasted 7 years so far and no problems. It came with very good step by step installation instructions.

I'd be nervous of an inexpensive no-name shifter. Who knows how long it will last, and once it fails, you're going to be stuck on the road somewhere waiting for a tow.

I can see your concerns with such a low priced short shifter. All in all though, I think they are all made out aluminum/steel so I am not too worried. It would be hilarious though to be driving and the stick shift to suddenly to fall out out of the boot.

The problem is that you can't stop it if something gets caught. The metal tunnel gets twisted and you may never get it right again. But hay, go ahead if you think it is so great to put it on automatic and listen for the crunch.
