Nice pics man. The wheels really standout. ( i like them, shiny and all).

yeah, great pics. I few observations. Those fans look cool, but I wonder how hard they would be to clean and if you would spill some beverage in them ( owch!!). I do like the rear and front bumber, but where is the spoiler?  I would love to have the exhaust shrowd on mine.
Is that round thing on the drivers side hood, near the windshield the fule fillup hole?

I wish the production car would have been closer to the concept on the outside. It's more than a foot shorter, much smaller, and better looking from every angle, IMO.

Don't think the original or test models had a spoiler. Story I heard was they discovered the rear produced too much lift on high speed runs on the autobahn. The rear wheels were actually lifting off the road. So they added the spoiler at the last minute to combat that problem. No rear wheels at 100+mph could be scary.

Frankly, I think they were remarkably faithful to the original concept, I've seen concept cars that were unrecognizable next to the production units.

Yeah I'm sure those fans would be a pig to keep clean and with the roof down pretty useless too, there was no spoiler on this car at all and what looks like an exhaust shrowd was in fact a beautifully made silencer, and yes the fuel fillip was in the hood although it had full brakes and suspension it did not appear to have an engine at all as the underside was completly "boxed in"

look closer and you will also notice that this prototype also did not have a convertible top
I think they stayed as close to the original prototype as they could but had to make some compromises (like adding the soft top, move the intakes up so they would not suck every cigarette but into the engine etc)

If you saw how small the concept is in person, you'd realize that the production car is about 5/4 scale. The concept is about the same size as the Miata. The original 2.5 would have made the concept car a rocket. They remained somewhat close in styling (not enough), but not in size. Also, when the car was first announced, it was going to be about $10k cheaper than it ended out selling for.

The concept Boxster was my number one interest at the museum and as such I spent a great deal of my time poking around it, although I never had a tape measure with me I can guarantee that it is not the same size as a Miata, and would say to my eye, it was as wide and as long as the production car.
The door mirrors did look slightly over-sized on the car and the windscreen surround was much slimmer but it was definately"Boxster" sized.

It's 10 inches shorter and 1.5 inches lower than the production car. About the size of a Miata.
