Boxster's this much of a gas eater?

I figured it out and I am seeing something like 14MPG overall. Dealer says it is my right foot and a S won't get any more than that in city driving, but I tell you that I don't drove drive it hard compared at all. Not much difference than my Tahoe for the most part, don't roadrace from light to light, or anything even remotely aggressive. I feel that the car feels slightly sluggish, even more so since my "Revo" technik free trial, but the mileage wasn't any better before than time anyhoo. Complete 60K no-expense spared tuneup at Porsche dealership was done less than 10k ago with new replacement Porsche engine.

Think it could have been broken in badly or perhaps the CEL is just not working?
It just "feels" slightly off....no backfire, rough idle or anything of note.....just feels like something is not tuned 100% IMHO.

Any ideas or things to check?

I don't know much about engines but I get exactly the same fuel figures as quoted below from the EPA, and I drive my '02 S the way it was designed to be driven, hard and fast, so I'd say there's something not right about your engine if your getting contant 14's with sedate driving.

Yep, I am bringing it to a new service shop on Tuesday. I called and tried to speak to the owner of the shop I just spent several thousands doing routine repair and upkeep work and he didn't take my call nor called me back over the last 2 days.
I have an appointment @ Lindsey's (In Kenner) where they are planning to do a complete diagnosis and see if they can tell anything wrong. Car is not running poorly, no CELs, no smoke, no rough idle, --- engine is very strong and car seems to be in simply great condition. I just am trying to figure out the MPG issue....if it is just me or my engine, then so be it I guess, just want to know for certain that everything is perfect with the car.

Hopefully no surprises.

There is no way to get 14 mpg in a car as light as a Boxster without driving flat out all the time. There is definitely something wrong with your motor.

My '97 3.4 gets 25-26 mpg with "normal" driving (whatever that is!), 16-17 when I give lots of demo rides on a tank (i.e., flat out runs to 130+ mph and just plain hammering the crap out of the car) and will get 29 mpg on the highway if I keep it under 80 most of the time.

I think it all has to do with your driving style and how often you use the cruise control. I get 19 in the city and at least 21-27 on the highway using the cruise control. I've actually seen the MPG rise and go "up" while driving it with the cruise control on while on the highway. If you use 5th gear or 6th for you "s" owners while on the highway with the cruise control on, you will see this happen.

Could be the fuel filter needs to be replaced. Manual says should be done after 60K. But mine seems to be fine. Nice looking car (efahl) by the way.

I just filled up and got 400 miles on one tank easily. 2.7 liter engine. Mostly country roads driving at about 60 mph. About 31 mpg. I think I need to drive it harder. LOL What do you think ??

That sounds right to me. Look at this picture I took the other day. My gas tank isn't even full, yet I have 361miles to the next fill up. Not bad. If it were full, it would probably be around 400. Use your cruise control, it helps!
