987 FM Modulator

after months of snap crackle pop reception, and also influenced by the broken plug on my iTrip....I finally threw in the towel and had the FM modualtor I received as a gift installed....bought and installed at best buy....

well here is the problem....the snap was there as was the crakle....my FM reception went to hell and the AM died.....I was getting 2 stations on the same frequeny....

took it back and I am now told the modulator I bought was incompatible with my radio and they found one that works better.....the Harmon Kardon plg n play or whatever it is called.....

so does anyone have any insight on this? they want 120 for the unit and 120 for the install...this is just getting a lot more pricy than I orignally planned.....
