Hi,

The Snorkel is a Noise Abatement Device designed for ROW models, principally Switzerland, but with an eye toward more governments enacting similar legislation.

There are really no negative consequences to removing it beyond losing it's silencing effect.

It can be reinstalled. Some have more difficulty doing this than others. I reinstalled mine at the time I removed it, just to see, and I didn't have any trouble at all...
