iPhone integration method

I have been using the Proclip iPhone mounts in my cars for years. They are designed specifically for each model year for most cars. Once in place, they stay in place and setting the phone in, is easy...

We are all stating observation and my observation was that a lot of posters had issue with Porsche snobbery. As another poster said, this happens in all sort of endeavors. Cars are just one and by no...

Geez, I don’t know why anyone would care much what other Porsche guys think. The one’s with attitude are most likely idiots and really don’t know much more about their cars than how they think they...

Agreed. The IMS replacement should be seen as part of the clutch replacement. That said, I would worry about an early 986 with an original bearing. I wouldn’t risk a single row IMS bearing for long.

This did happen to me 10 years ago

<a href=“http://986forum.com/forums/boxster-general-discussions/16822-shortlived-boxster-engines-survey.html”>2000 S, 33k</a>. I will say this about the Boxsters at this point. The IMS issue is...

Broken hinge on Console-Armrest Door for 2000 986

I don’t know how the hell it broke, but the armrest door is suddenly detached. The plastic hinge on both sides have snapped. Is there a fix outside of replacing the entire console and door? Glue...

Geez, dont know why it hadn’t dawned on me early. Just turn on the AC. And as many pointed out here, the low temp thermostat doesn’t really add to the cooling capacity. Just begins the process a...

Thanks for response

Lot’s of good ideas here. I like the manual fan switches idea. But it seems the S oil cooler is the best bang for buck for simply keeping the engine temp down. Is it a simple bolt on proposition?...

Am I worrying needlessly about engine temp?

A few points first. My perfect 2000 S with 33k blew up 10 years ago. Am still scarred. Baffling to my family, I bought a 2000 2.7 this year. Love this car. But worry as I sit in the horrid Bay Area...

Oil cooler replacement

Any opinions on the Behr coolers?

Does $220 sound about right for an OEM cooler?

Sounds like sage advice

But do you mean buying the cooler from Porsche? A scary thought.

Great, I’ll go with LN engineering so my thermostat matches the new IMS bearing I got from them.

Funny, I usually spend money on performance upgrades. Guess when you enter your 60’s, priorities change. I definitely like the idea of cooling down that motor.

Can I get a recommendation for the...

Thanks folks

Yeah, thought the middle opening in the front was the oil cooler. Kinda dumb after thinking about it. But is the S oil cooler just a swap?

Any down side to a low temp thermostat?

Added cooling for a 2.7

Have read some 2.7 owners add an S oil cooler. Is this a simple mod? Is the oil cooler in front of the car, requiring an S front bumper cover?

Any other mods to add cooling to a 2.7?

The rep around the IMS is common knowledge. I wouldn't touch one with out an LN IMS or the full cost factored in. Lost a 2000 S a decade ago with IMS failure at 33k. Never imagined I would own one...

Wow! This is a story of bad news and even worse news. First, a fire extinguisher really won't work since the engine is so inaccessible. Next, the fire department won't try to put it out either.

Yup, looks familiar. Mine blew at freeway speed. Actually blew the oil cap off. Chocolate milk everywhere. The good news for you is that you got 189k out of the engine. I got 33k.
