Thanks - I took a look and all the rubber around the top is present. I found it in the street, so it might not be from the Boxster, but I was working on the Boxster top in the street that day.

You are correct - it goes on the frame as you have indicated. There should also be a plastic clip that routes the wire out of the way. I accidentally broke my clip as I routed the wire incorrectly...

If the support is broken, pull the connector out of the support and connect it to the light before installing it. This is a cheap fix and you don't need to go to the mechanic.

The dash speakers have some non-standard mounting but I have a '98 and was able to remove the speakers, unplug the wires and replace the surround foam.
