I have the same car and mine does the same thing....
I have the same car and mine does the same thing. I drive about 1/2 mile out of my development in second gear and it shifts fine after that.

MIne is off now here in Florida, but the back...
MIne is off now here in Florida, but the back does sit about 3/4 " above the body. It sits on the seal gasket.

Yup, Its a little roomier with it on, much cooler with the air on, and definitely keeps the top protected from the extreme sun and daily afternoon showers.

I live in Tampa and I use my hardtop from June thru Sept. Just too damn hot to have the top down. Also, notice this guy is in Key Largo. Salt spray and nsun would tear up a top in no time down there...

I put the hardtop on the 986 from June to Early Sept. Daily Sun and rain are common and the car stays cooler.
