Go to this video and go about 5 minutes in, he shows how to do replace the rear struts, and doesn't break loose the two ball joints for the toe arm and the LCA.

Note that an alignment is required after doing it this way, but if you are installing a lowering spring you need a new alignment anyway, and maybe even if installing a new strut onto your existing spring.
