Spare transponder key
Does anyone know the correct Porsche part number for a spare transponder key for a 2002 Boxster 986 2.7 Tip?
I've just bought one and been sold a pup, I was assured it would fit my pre-facelift Boxster but it's only a two button unit, part no. 986 637 243 03. It comes complete with the barcode tag and the original outer bag, but there is also a blank on the bag where the Key Code should be.
If I can use it somehow I don't mind losing remote access to the trunk, frunk or even both, but if not am I correct in my suspicion that without a key code the unit has almost no resale value except as a replacement two button casing and battery?

Try this number 98663724418 it appears there were 3 part number this supersedes 98663724411, 98663724414, 98663724416
A couple sites on web
98663724418 - Key Head Remote Housing - ES#1471465
https://www.parts.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=store.PartInfo&PartNumber=98663724418&VehicleID=175127&diagram=None&Title%3DPorsche-911-w%2FTarga-TRANSMITTER
You realize that you will need to go to a dealer to have the transponder programed to the immobilizer

Without a code, it's pretty useless.

The code is on the tag, not the bag.

There are 2 codes that are required. One is for the remote that should be on a tag that is attached to the fob. The other is that programming code for the car. That is the harder one to find. Anyone here know how to get that?

It must be obtained from PCNA if originally sold in North America.
Normally they require you do this thru a authorized Porsche dealer.

I know an independent shop in LA that can do it, so search your local indy repair shops. Otherwise you'll have to go to a dealer.

Any idea how they do it. It seems that The RennShop here will only do it if they sell a remote (for $200).

Thanks for the replies, but I'm still not sure whether I can actually use this transponder with my car even if I can get the second (programming) code.
If not, the seller has misdescribed the unit and I might be able to get a refund.
