I've assumed that your do this for your '00 Boxster ( which is DME 7.2). The oil temperature is checked by the DME because codes P0197 and P0198 are thrown for below/above limits (oil temp is used for cam adjustments). You may be able to see the actual value from your device -- I can check it with my Durametric on my '07.
