OBDII Oil Temp?

Does anyone know if the Boxster supports OBD-II oil temperature?

I've got a ELM327 WIFI connection to my IPhone.

I'll need the PID information if I want to setup a gauge?

example:

oil temp PID for the Toyota 86.

PID 2101
Min -40
Max 215
Scale x1
Unit Type C
Equation AC-40
OBD Header 7E0

I've already plumbed for physically duplicate oil temp and oil pressure gauges
but since I have the OBD-II also working, was thinking that might
be an option as well.

thanks,

Mike

I've assumed that your do this for your '00 Boxster ( which is DME 7.2). The oil temperature is checked by the DME because codes P0197 and P0198 are thrown for below/above limits (oil temp is used for cam adjustments). You may be able to see the actual value from your device -- I can check it with my Durametric on my '07.

Yes -- my 00 S Boxster. I'm coming up to speed on OBD-II

I believe the codes are not in the first 32 -- so are extended -- therefore
I need to know the PID and then the characteristics.

I've also found a thread where they think you can display it on the HVAC controls,
but in the long run I'd like to maybe display a good bit of info on a IPAD -- but I'll start
with my phone.

thanks,

Mike

Do a find on the below page for "oil" (engine oil temp pid = 5c)

More PIDS than you can shake a stick at ;)

OBD-II PIDs - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I have one of those ELM 328 OBDII readers (Bluetooth) as well that I wanted to use for extra guages as well.

What software are you using with yours on your phone?
