In layman's terms, by reducing rotational mass and under driving the vehicle's "accessories", the lighter weight pulley draws less power from the engine . No functionality is lost. However, some have reported that under extreme conditions when all of the vehicle's accessories (i.e. a/c , headlights, radio, wipers ect..) are being used at the same time, rpm's may fluctuate at idle . As far as installation is concerned, it's chicken scratch at first. However, once someone has done one - it's a breeze.
