Whether they did something significant like change a thickness or material, or change something as silly as 'Tom' is assembling them instead of 'George', he didn't know. It is still in the air if they are actually different.

I think what I am going to do is look at the Luk manufacturing number, which on my older Porsche part number is DMF042. If i can determine that the Luk number from the newer Porsche part number is the same as the older Porsche number, I will assume that they only changed the Porsche number without making any changed to the actual part.

This is all so frustrating
