I also went with the 1 1/2" tubing on my stock base muffler, but it's not stainless, which is what i would go with if I were to do it again. I've had mine for about a year and the tubing is starting to rust slightly. I am thinking of painting the whole muffler flat black with engine paint. If you go the stainless route and can't find any locally, I couldn't, JC Whitney sells 1 1/2" stainless tubing made for mandrel bending.
