Pedro Sport Exhaust
After about a month of first logging on to this website I've read and seem some good info. I have decided to ad the PSE with 1.5" tubing to my borla exhaust setup. I know he talks about 1/2 inch tubing and from their he talks about 1 1"4 tubing.... he later says at the end if he were to do it again he would go with 1.5 inch tubing... Has any tried his setup? and with what muffler? and with what tubing?
|
I used the 1.5 tubing but on a stock muffler......
|
the pipes hes talking about are just personal preference, larger pipes mean more sound.. I went with 1.25" pipes, These pipes are just normal straight pipe you can buy at home depot but you need to bend them yourself with a pipe bender.

i bought 4 feet of 1.5 stainless steel tubing which was $20 a foot. Then had the custom exhaust place who charged me 50.00 do the mod ... i would go with the stainless steel ....

I also went with the 1 1/2" tubing on my stock base muffler, but it's not stainless, which is what i would go with if I were to do it again. I've had mine for about a year and the tubing is starting to rust slightly. I am thinking of painting the whole muffler flat black with engine paint. If you go the stainless route and can't find any locally, I couldn't, JC Whitney sells 1 1/2" stainless tubing made for mandrel bending. |

I used stainless steel pipes that I had mandrel bent. If you don't use stainless they will start to rust quickly. The reason I chose 1.25" was because I wasn't sure how loud it would be. In hindsight I think 1.5" diameter would have been better. But I'm happy with my results. It's been over 4 years already. Happy Boxstering, Pedro |
is there any chance that these mods that open up the exhaust would decrease low end torque on the smaller 2.5 and 2.7 liter motors?

THe Pedro Exhaust Rocks!!!!!!
I Used the 1.5 inch stainless steel tubing with the Borla Exhaust and headers I just purchased. THis sound Rocks!!!! I had the shop polish the tubing since it was going to show... THe tubing is leveled and bent perfect... It was done by my friend here in Fresno, ca.... Anyone want this setup I would highly recommend this shop. Here are some pics of the back of my 99 boxster... Yeah the license plate does represent blink 182... they rock too...

Blinkfan,
Thats one of the cleanest mods I've seen yet, good job. |
that setup looks VERY clean. i think that's the first one i've seen where the added tubing is polished. almost looks like the tequipment PSE exhaust!
most guys try to HIDE the new t ubing - your's just flat out shows it off! I JUST installed a pedro muffler TODAY. I didn't have a chance to take pics or video. will do in the next few days and hopefully get something onto youtube. it sounds great huh!!! do you think you lose any low end power? |
Blinkfan---that's just beautiful.

I won't sweat it, anyway whatever you lost in power (assuming you did-due to backpressure issue) you gained three fold in loudness... :D . |
That looks like a very clean install. Nice work! I'd like to do this mod sometime in the future and yours is a great example of how it should be done!
