Wheel Spacer Install Help!

I just got a set of H&R wheel spacers 7mm in the mail and they look completely different than any I have installed.

They are hubcentric and came with 2 bolts each. The spacers have a coutner sunk hole where one of the bolts goes, but it's short. Also didn't come with wheel bolts.

I haven't had the wheel off yet so not sure how to install.

Anyone have any pictures, or can anyone help link to a how to guide?

I'm assuming i need 7mm longer wheel bolts??? and 7mm longer lugs.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm no help since I'm thinking about spacers myself.

Did you get 7mm for front and rear? How did you arrive at that size?

I was thinking of getting 14mm for the rears and 10mm for the fronts but HR doesn't have 10mm, only 7 or 14 or 15.

What size wheels do you have?

Please take before and after pics and post.

I posted my tire and wheel size on this forum (with wheel offsets) and basically everyone advised me that they were running 7mm with the same wheel size.

Also bought H&R spacers from actionimports for 1/2 price (60.00 each).

I would assume you need longer lugs as well. Call H&R and ask for advice. I think they have three different types of spacers and they all install differently.

the bolts should be screws. they thread into the brake disks, which have small threaded holes in them for a puller tool. you will need longer bolts. i got mine from gpr tuning. you will have to take the cone washers off of your old bolts and put them on the new ones. FYI, the bolt measurement is taken from the flange of the bolt to the end of the bolt.

THe counter sunk hole is, for lack of a better term, to temporarily, hold the spacer to the hub so you can mount the wheels. When you place the spacer on the hub, rotate the hub until the hole lines up.. it will be obvious when you get there. The five main bolts, of course, actually hold the wheel to the hub with the spacer sandwiched between them. Without the small bolt holding the spacer to the hub, it would be nearly impossible to mount the wheel, since the spacer would turn and you'd have difficulty lining up the bolt holes

You'll need longer bolts. I don't know where you bought your spacers but wherever it was, they should have them. I bought my spacers and bolts from Paragon. Email or call and ask for Jason, who was great to work when I was shopping for them.

The longer bolts I've seen, and the ones I purchased, come with the cones already attached, making removing them from the old bolts unnecessary.

Here's what they look like on the hub, like the posts above stated, the set screws fit in the counter sunk hole to attach the spacer to the hub. Longer bolts are needed and I ordered mine when I ordered the spacers to ensure the length was correct.

7mm front & 15mm rear: (I know... caliper paint is on order )

Bob,

Do you have pics of your car with the wheels on (with the spacers?)

I am thinking of getting spacers too but I wonder if 7mm is too small for the fronts.

Do you think it would be ridculous or there would be fitment problems if I used 15mms in the front too?

I have an 02 S and want to put a set on as well. I have HR sport springs on which lowered the car about an inch to an inch and a half. I have stock 18" sport rims. Is 7mm front and 15mm rear ok for fitment?

My 7mm H&R spacers on the back went on nice and tight and I did not use the screw on the passenger side because it didn't line up.

I did buy longer wheel lugs to compensate for the extension.

52MM lug bolts are needed for the 7MM spacers. You should have 45MM bolts on the stock wheels.

Your current bolts may go into the hub, but are not the correct length for adequate strength.

And, as others have said, the round washer/flange needs to be removed
and reinstalled on the new bolts (just hit it hard with a hammer and open
end wrench to get it off)

Well, even with the 7mm they rub a little - the rubber touches just enough. If I had ordered 10mm it would have been perfect.

I ordered 14mm just to be sure so I'll keep you guys posted.

I'll put 14mm on the rear and 7mm on the front. Anyone see a problem with this setup?

Also, it's wierd that the H&R spacers are held on with only one screw.

Thanks very much for the help. I'm going to have to go with 14mm rear and 7mm front. Did you notice any improvement in handling?
