986 clutch pedal stuck

If anyone could help out that’d be great,
Problem : clutch pedal is stuck down and only comes up if I pull it up, car is able to turn on, able shift gears while it’s on, when on it cannot shift gears when clutch is in.

Possible causes:
(I know I messed up) basically launched the car on a steep hill and smelt like burnt clutch the whole way home, after this happened was the first time my clutch pedal got stuck

Weve replaced the slave and master cylinders but to no avail (had some issues bleeding the system so will be doing that again to make sure that isn’t the problem)
The pedal very slightly moves up now after initial bleed

If anyone has an idea of what’s the problem/solution please help

Simplest things first.
Make sure the clutch pedal return spring is not broken.

Well let's see
Pedal was stuck to floor
bleed system
pedal moves slightly now

Sounds like you didn't bleed it completely or correctly.

I don't know if its possible, but if the clutch assist spring breaks, possibly could get stuck in a position that won't allow the clutch to move? At the very least it would be something easy to check.

I had a similar symptom when my clutch line between the MC and slave cracked and was leaking fluid. Mine broke inside the drivers side fender and was dripping fluid below the car.

the clutch assist spring makes it easier to push. If it breaks, it won't stop the pedal from moving

Did you bleed clutch with pedal pushed all the way in?

I know, but I have also heard of them kind of exploding when they snap and in theory could get stuck in a precarious position that would lock it in place. Again, just theorizing from some incidents I've read about

A broken clutch assist spring can definitely stick the pedal on the floor. It happened to me and there are other documented occurrences here (along with replacement tips, how they work and specs for different rate replacement springs). They don’t work the way it would first appear.

If you think it is a broken assist spring, simply disconnect it and see if that is the problem

Clutch assist spring links

These might help:

Ideas? Sticking clutch pedal only when braking heavily

Found spring in drivers side footwell - what is it??

Clutch Pedal Doesn't Return Smoothly and Completely

Clutch booster spring possible causing clutch to slip

Simply removing the assist device (which contains the spring) will work for testing but it can intermittently disengage the cruise control. The assist device actually applies minor return pressure which fully depresses the clutch cruise control switch when the pedal is at top of travel. Also, the clutch assist device is under about 90lbs of spring pressure. You must be careful removing it because you can damage the car or sustain injury.
