Bye Bye Birdie

Sitting at a stop light Friday afternoon. When a young lady is cut off on the other side of the road. She swerves to avoid the idiot, comes across the road...and into the front of my beloved Birdie! Adjuster is seeing her today, but I'm guessing write off!

That's too bad, at least you're okay. It doesn't look to bad, and hopefully it won't be totaled.

Looks like a fender and a radiator. I hope you had collision insurance or at least can squeeze the other driver for the repairs. Glad your ok, that is the most important thing.

sorry to see that. You got at least a bumper cover, radiator and support pieces, fender and its support brackets and probably some other little stuff. If the tub is ok, could probably be repaired pretty easily and cheaply ebay style (if you want to do that). If you take it to a porsche approved body shop, you'll likely exceed $6k which is where it starts to get totaled for a higher mile box S.

The insurance company wrote the car off. With the crazy Porsche Market in Toronto the average replacement cost of a 2000 Boxster S is $19k They offered me $11K for mine, and I refused it. Sent them 7 adds for cars in my area. They came back at $19.5 plus tax, and I accepted that. Looking at an 05 S as a replacement.

That worked out alright. Surprised it was totaled. The picture shows relatively minor damage.

Time for a new Birdie.

Sorry to see her go, but glad your insurance took care of you. Be sure to share with us what you end up with. Good luck with your search.

Nice move to counter! I'll remember that should a similar misfortune fall on me. What you eventually got is a fair price in our market.
Cheers!

Time for a new Birdie.
New Birdie, has been purchased. 05S. 96KM, but motor replaced by Porsche 40KM ago for IMS failure. Sports Exhaust and Tuning by PFAFF Tuning in Woodbridge. New water pump and clutch. New rubber on 19" Lobster Claw rims. PPI came out clean. One owner with all service records. 3M paint protection in the front. He bought a New Cayman, and had to get rid of the 987. Gave me a decent price. It cost me $2700 out of pocket after the insurance money to get this car....so I'm pretty happy with it.
