Another audio question

I currently have the CDR-23 with the door speakers. I am considering installing a CDR-220 due to its ability to add bluetooth and iPhone support. I would like to add an aftermarket amp to improve the sound quality (I have already upgraded the speakers). How difficult is this job? Can I order a wire harness to connect to the new amp somewhere. Will the speaker wire from the current MOST amp work with an aftermarket amp?

Thanks in advance.
Brad

The wiring for the CDR-23 is not compatible with the CDR-220. The CDR-23 is fiber optic based. A search should turn up a lot of information on this topic.

The CDR-220 is not BT compatible in and of itself. It is capable of adding an AUX input that could be used for a variety of devices.

If all you want to do is add BT, check out the iSimple Tranzit Blu. It connects through the antenna port so you can use it with any radio. It works pretty well with no interference as it is a direct connection.

Can the iSimple Tranzit Blu be used with a CR-210?

As for wire harness, I suggest contacting Crutchfield. Those folks are great!

Yes. No problem.

The iSimple device connects easily. You hook up switched power, ground, antenna in and antenna out. That's it. You may need a VW style antenna adapter to go from iSimple into radio but they're easy to find and under $10.

Yes. I installed the iSimple Tranzit Blu with the CDR-220 in my 996 to get BT connectivity. Affordable and worked pretty well (sound quality wasn't the greatest but then neither is the CDR-220).

Agree that the sound quality is not the same as a CD. It's understandable given that BT affects dynamic range of the signal, which is then FM modulated. IIRC, FM frequency response is typically limited to 50-15khz and stereo separation is limited as well though I can't recall the number.

All in all, given the open environment of our cars, the device is more than adequate to enjoy tunes off your phone.
