When you do an oil change, do you take the old oil from one car and put it into another? If your brake pads are worn, do you go to a junk yard for 15 year old, used brake pads? The coolant expansion tank is worn by both use and age. The plastic deteriorates over the years. Heat and the cycles of expansion and contraction break down the structure. A used tank from a 1999 will not last nearly as long as a new tank. It is near the end of it's designed life-span.

As the used parts supplier around here, I do get boxsters in with recently replaced tanks and brakes. Not so much with suspension pieces though
