Window "chrome" trim piece

Has anyone had any luck trying to clean /restore a weathered plastic / chrome windshield trim piece.

Last I recall, the windshield surround trim is rubber/plastic and not chromed.

It is Chrome on the S models. I was never able to clean mine, but the chrome finish had worn through.

Mine doesn't look so hot either and I figure I will replace it when I need a new window shield and go with a all black rubber one.

The color code is 9A4 and the color name is titanium metallic

Up through 2000 the part number is 986 541 541 00 9A4
from 2001 on the part number is 986 541 541 02 9A4

As previously noted it's only a $70 part

Cool

When I detail my 02S I often use a clay bar on the windshield to remove dirt and grit and make the windshield smooth. Last summer I clayed the windshield trim piece also and I was amazed at how much better/cleaner it looked afterward. It looked so much better that I think it really contributed to me winning the local P club Concourse D' elegance show......

on mine it was such an eye sore, peeling that I made a plastic scraper and scrapped off the hard plastic what ever it was suppose to be and got it down to black rubber

It was never chrome looking. Just a hard plastic finish
