I liked the one comment to the Haggerty article where the guy said he's never had a problem buying a used car on Craigslist because he only buys cars from Ward Cleaver or his neighbor.
One of my pet peeves with Craigslist ads is when sellers say "no dealers." I think what they really mean is no used car dealers who will show up with a wad of cash that is half or less of what the seller is asking for the car and try to get you to sell too cheaply. I once had one of these guys show up and just told him no deal. The last car I sold on Craigslist was to a used car dealer who offered me a very fair price, very quick and painless. I don't care who buys something I'm selling as long as they are willing to make a good deal.

Ultra low mileage S/E 6spd. No mention of IMS, so probably not addressed. Ad says 'local only' - yeah like he'd turn down $19K from someone out of state.

Without doing much (well...any) research, I'll hat-in-hand ask this: for a S/E with 11k miles, that's not too bad a price is it? Assuming it passes PPI, etc.

The ultra-low mileage drives the price up on this one. You'd want to do the IMS on one that's sat around this much, that's another $3K. There have been several SEs that have sold on BAT in the $20s and they weren't this low mileage. I've seen several for sale for $16 that had 60-70K mi and were tips. So price is decent / market correct if you want this low mileage.
Aren't you supposed to be waiting for a certain LE to hit the mkt?

https://mobile.craigslist.org/wto/d/new-bedford-porsche-wheels-and-tires/6860396715.html
Texted with the owner as I'm about 150 miles from Mobile, AL. Should have looked at the map....wheels are located in Mass. Owner apologized and had no idea why the wheels were showing up on CL so far away. I haven't seen them on other local sites so may be legit. Not sure on age of tires. He said they were on his car when be purchased it 4 years ago.

CL instituted a policy of charging $5 for a personal car ad last Mon. They say they're doing it to stop bots, but I wonder what effect if will have on volume of ads? Not sure I want to spend $5 or not. Might look at the FB avenue. 90% of the time I sell my cars on CL.

I look at FB Mart cars pretty frequently. It is mostly sad examples of cars run into the ground with well over 100K miles on them. If you want a decent car its one of the worst places to look. Join PCA, they have lots of Porsches for sale and they are mostly well cared for, Cargurus is another option, but with a mix of junkers and good examples.

Ain't that the truth? I spent about 5 minutes on there this morning and all I found was hoopties. I'm not afraid of high miles, but these cars looked like they had been dragged out of a river. I use Cargurus and AutoTrader.

I agree, but you gotta be careful of CarGurus and Autotrader too. Most of those ads are by dealers. I don't like buying from dealers, they don't know anything about the history of the car. Plus, they're usually more expensive than a private party sale. Plus, most dealers are sleazeballs.

The new CL $5 policy is interesting. I wonder if dealers will still use it. It will cost a lot to relist their entire inventory. I bet they will jam everything into one large ad.

Hopefully doesn't result in more dealers throwing Porsche search keywords into ads for a Kia. Though get a few flagged and deleted and they'll probably stop.

Clearly a lot of work went into getting it where it is. Makes me kinda sad.
