Needs the oscillating lights on the front fender (like Kit the Firebird.) That paint and the big decal on the hood are really hot! (not!)

rexcramer 04-20-2019 07:25 AM

I didn't notice the hood the first time I looked. I almost feel obliged to buy it just to undo that horrible paint/graphics job. That's just not right.

BRAN 04-20-2019 10:18 AM

I like the design...kinda...sorta...just needs a few tweaks and you are good to go, uhm fly!

wrong side though :D

L1ttleBastard 04-20-2019 10:31 AM

I've seen that turd in person...it's even more awful.

The only taste that guy has is in his mouth....

paulofto 04-20-2019 11:02 AM

Now if the hood had a 70's Trans Am style screaming chicken emblem.......... that would be awesome! :barf:

Texted with the owner as I'm about 150 miles from Mobile, AL. Should have looked at the map....wheels are located in Mass. Owner apologized and had no idea why the wheels were showing up on CL so far away. I haven't seen them on other local sites so may be legit. Not sure on age of tires. He said they were on his car when be purchased it 4 years ago.

CL instituted a policy of charging $5 for a personal car ad last Mon. They say they're doing it to stop bots, but I wonder what effect if will have on volume of ads? Not sure I want to spend $5 or not. Might look at the FB avenue. 90% of the time I sell my cars on CL.

sugarwood 04-21-2019 04:28 AM

The new CL $5 policy is interesting. I wonder if dealers will still use it. It will cost a lot to relist their entire inventory. I bet they will jam everything into one large ad.

I look at FB Mart cars pretty frequently. It is mostly sad examples of cars run into the ground with well over 100K miles on them. If you want a decent car its one of the worst places to look. Join PCA, they have lots of Porsches for sale and they are mostly well cared for, Cargurus is another option, but with a mix of junkers and good examples.

mgfranz 04-21-2019 09:37 AM

deleted, wrong post.

Ain't that the truth? I spent about 5 minutes on there this morning and all I found was hoopties. I'm not afraid of high miles, but these cars looked like they had been dragged out of a river. I use Cargurus and AutoTrader.

I agree, but you gotta be careful of CarGurus and Autotrader too. Most of those ads are by dealers. I don't like buying from dealers, they don't know anything about the history of the car. Plus, they're usually more expensive than a private party sale. Plus, most dealers are sleazeballs.

Hopefully doesn't result in more dealers throwing Porsche search keywords into ads for a Kia. Though get a few flagged and deleted and they'll probably stop.

Reminds me of the Johnny Cash song, "One Piece At A Time"

Do a YouTube search if you're not familiar.

Racer Boy 05-08-2019 09:33 AM

I wouldn't expect to find an actual 911 Turbo Cab parked in a neighborhood that looks like that.

JBauer 05-08-2019 10:29 AM

I think it wouldn't look bad if you pulled some of that crap off and out normal wheels on it.

Clearly a lot of work went into getting it where it is. Makes me kinda sad.

husker boxster 05-09-2019 04:57 AM

My guess is the paint is barely dry. In 2 yrs, there will be grand canyon style cracks where he slathered on heaps of bondo to attach the fender flares.

I hope he has the time & emotional strength to get thru the sale.

Short of the NOS crap and all the other stuff, this type of "mod" was fairly popular in the 80's and it is quite possible it was done "right". Having said that, the rest of the thing is just a real shame. I don't have the emotional strength to go on...

JBauer 05-09-2019 09:10 AM

Just curious. Without all that crap stuck on it, would it be a valuable car? I dont have a clue.

As a stock 911 Cabrio I bet it would have been worth 2 - 3 times more than it's current state.

On a side note.... I could use the LS and nitrous bottle for another project I am working on. (72 split bumper Camaro)

First production 911 cabriolets were built in 1982 and sold as 1983 models. Hopefully this conversion at least started out as a Targa model and/or has some more reinforcements so it has some structural integrity with that LS in there!

A V8 914. Been up on CL for about 4 hours. Intriguing! https://tucson.craigslist.org/cto/d/pearce-porsche-914-gt-8/6891290700.html

rexcramer 05-17-2019 02:22 PM

Hard to imagine somebody paying anything close to that asking price.

I wasn't suggesting anyone would. And it's probably a nightmare to keep running. But it is pretty interesting.

Holy crap, that's nuts. 32k? Wow... For 10k might be fun.

itsnotanova 05-18-2019 04:41 AM

I wonder how many minutes that 901 will last behind the torque of a V8

Sure, by way of Denver--you can do a PPI.

husker boxster 06-13-2019 07:07 PM

Found this Box S a few wks ago. Didn't care for the interior accents, figured it was a 1 of 1 special order.

I guessed wrong.

Maybe it looks better in real life. Think the color is more brown in reality rather than the orange that is in the pic.

I bought that car today. It’s in fantastic shape. Owned by an enthusiast who’s had a Porsche since the ‘60s.
