WOW.
I’ve never seen a hard top integrate so well into the body lines.
Black one, especially. Looks identical to a Cayman.

Anyone know what that is about ?

Usually, they look horrible like this

I haven’t been on Craigslist in some time and wondered if anyone can recommend a Craigslist multi city or state search app or site.

When I bought my booster 10 years ago I found it in South Carolina and used ‘crazedlist’ to search all cities in all states on the trip there and back. I was able to find rims which I still have and some other parts on the way home.

I’m making a trip to South Carolina on the weekend and would love to locate parts for my boxster and a4

Thanks in advance

I like 'Searchtempest'

This one was passed on to me and looks like it has potential:
https://tippecanoe.craigslist.org/cto/d/denver-for-sale-97-porsche-boxster/6827295954.html

A project car '97 with under 90k miles for $2,500. It's too far away from me and I have 4 project cars in progress at the moment, so for not me.

Sometimes it's a small world. This car sits at the other end of the building I have my shop in.

The good part - I got the hard top from the car, a brand new convertible top and the mesh inserts from both seats. :D

An old friend pops back up

Was looking thru Denver CL and ran across this ad:
https://denver.craigslist.org/ctd/d/lafayette-2006-porsche-987-cayman-6/6832514139.html

She looked familiar but I didn't remember the sport seats. Did some records checking and sure enough, this is the 06 CS I helped a friend sell 1.5 yrs ago.

http://986forum.com/forums/boxsters-cayman-cars-sale-wanted/66992-2006-cayman-s.html

Update on my friend - he broke up w/ GF.

It's a small world, but I wouldn't want to paint it.

Brian in Tucson 03-13-2019 07:31 AM

I could afford this, but no space. Fixer for $2500

Thanks I'm thrilled. $6 a piece with free shipping, and nice?
Are they getting that good at counterfeiting?

There's a guy in HB selling these right now on CL for $50 a set. A year or so ago I bought 3... 4 sets to match my wheels. I believe I paid $40 a set back then.

Came in boxes... packaging... look like the real deal. Clearly they're not. However, in my opinion... they're worth the price. Plastic.

A couple of weeks ago I was cleaning my wheels... noticed a little wear on the "newer" caps... turned out to be that protective film you're supposed to remove. Now they look even newer.

Good quality knockoffs. Good detail. Grab a few sets while you can. Don't scratch the paint on them...

robdelorenzo 03-14-2019 05:28 AM

Does spraying a clear coat over these help protect them? Does clear nail polish work? or at that price, should I just not worry about it? thanks -

The clearcoat would go bad quick and the nail polish would probably eat into the paint. I wouldn't.

Thanks - "Drive more, worry less" seems to be good advice!

180 degree V6? Didn't Ferrari refer to some of their flat 12 engines as 180 degree V12's? Maybe because their engines had opposing cylinders share rod journals on the crank though?

Yes, that’s exactly what Ferrari did.

Chances are the majority are overseas so local authorities wouldn't be able to do anything and they're too small time for the FBI. They just want to lighten your wallet of a few hundred bucks and then move on to the next mark. They work on your greed for wanting to be the 1st to grab the unbelievable deal they're offering, so they ask you to send them a down payment in order to hold it for you. It's sort of impressive how they adapt and evolve. Too bad it's not for the betterment of mankind.

I totally agree with your last statement. Esp the ones who scam the elderly (not necessarily thru car ads). That is the lowest of low.

PaulE 03-27-2019 06:13 AM

I liked the one comment to the Haggerty article where the guy said he's never had a problem buying a used car on Craigslist because he only buys cars from Ward Cleaver or his neighbor.

One of my pet peeves with Craigslist ads is when sellers say "no dealers." I think what they really mean is no used car dealers who will show up with a wad of cash that is half or less of what the seller is asking for the car and try to get you to sell too cheaply. I once had one of these guys show up and just told him no deal. The last car I sold on Craigslist was to a used car dealer who offered me a very fair price, very quick and painless. I don't care who buys something I'm selling as long as they are willing to make a good deal.

Eddie Haskell? Or Lumpy?

husker boxster 04-10-2019 08:30 AM

Ultra low mileage S/E 6spd. No mention of IMS, so probably not addressed. Ad says 'local only' - yeah like he'd turn down $19K from someone out of state.

Frodo 04-10-2019 01:02 PM

Without doing much (well...any) research, I'll hat-in-hand ask this: for a S/E with 11k miles, that's not too bad a price is it? Assuming it passes PPI, etc.

The ultra-low mileage drives the price up on this one. You'd want to do the IMS on one that's sat around this much, that's another $3K. There have been several SEs that have sold on BAT in the $20s and they weren't this low mileage. I've seen several for sale for $16 that had 60-70K mi and were tips. So price is decent / market correct if you want this low mileage.

Aren't you supposed to be waiting for a certain LE to hit the mkt? ;)
