Audio system question - not upgrade

I noticed today that there did not appear to be any sound coming out of my door speakers. I have a 2001 S with upgraded sound. It has the CDR 220, dash speakers and door speakers. I used the "fade" mode on the radio to try to isolate the door speakers but when I faded to the back, there was no sound at all. Balanced or front seems to only provide sound from the dash speakers.

Is there separate fuse for the door speakers?

Any other things you can suggest to figure this out?

Thanks, John

There are not fuses in speaker circuits.

The manuals don't reall say, but I'd think you would need to have rear speaker--in the storage shelf--before the fader would be effective. The radio has rear speaker connectors, but something has to be connected to them.

First though would be damage to wiring in door--lots of flexing there.

I have never been able to hear anything from my door speakers in my 2001 S, I replaced the head with a Pioneer, replaced the dash speakers with Polks and added rear speakers....a world of difference for not a lot of money.

I have a 2000S that had the same radio, 6 channel amp dash, door and rear parcel speakers.

Your door speakers are considered subwoofers and should be playing along with the fronts (and rears if you had them). The door speakers are not full range so you may have to put your ear down by the speaker to see if they are functional.

Your fader is working correctly. If you added the rear parcel shelf speakers, the fader would fade between the dash and the rear speakers. The doors should always be active as they are actually on a seperate output from your amp.

Thanks all!

I plan on the Pioneer upgrade and the Polks are on order! Which head unit did you go with? I am looking at the 4000NEX.

Ok. So is there a way to isolate the "sub woofers" in the door? Turn up the base?

the sub woofers in the door don't communicate high frequency sound because they are on a built in crossover in the amp. if you are looking to get sound out of the door speakers your best bet is to replace the amplifier.

Garage
As others have said, your door speakers are bass only. Upgrade your door speakers at the same time you upgrade your HU. Take a look at these two threads:
