Help with Faulty Display Screen Please

Hi Everyone,

The display window on my dash is faulty and I would like to replace it if possible.

Has anyone here ever replaced this part and if so could you please give me some instructions. Also if you know the correct part name and part number that would be great. Please see picture attached. Thanks in advance.

Not a big deal. I did mine a couple years back
Common problem. There is a company, internet search because I forget name, that sells a replacement display. You have to take out climate control unit. take it apart (Help DIY guilds out there), sub in new display and back in business

Do a search on the renlist.com 996 forum for a thread from cuda911 on this subject. He had the same problem and was very happy with the one he got that was around $60.

You can also find the, on eBay. YMMV

Or.... Make an offer of $70 on this one from Quality Porsche Parts on eBay. They are a great seller.

I'd be a bit careful buying the ebay complete unit. I seem to recall others having an issue if they didn't get the one that was the same model number as theirs. And the ebay unit is likely set up for CanBus, which the OP's car doesn't have. (I've used the Modulemaster kit and it's great.)

+1
If you go with the whole part, make sure the part number is identicle to the one you have.

Good info.... I did not know. Looking at the units and the different part numbers I was way off.

Why replace the whole unit if yours is working fine, jut the display is a little messed up

Here is a thread that has info ion a very good source for replacement displays

Pixels out on climate control screen. Suggestions? - Rennlist Discussion Forums

Many of the displays have different icons, so check and makes sure you are getting the correct one

You have two problems; 1) your display LCD needs to be replaced (blotches) and 2) the contact ribbons need to be cleaned (causing missing segments).
The replacement screen linked in previous post has been used by many successfully.

Wow what a great response by all, thanks Guys. I never wanted to replace the whole unit, but was hoping just the LCD part was available.

Thanks to those that supplied links much appreciated, I think I'll go with

Porsche Climate Control LCD Repair Kit | ModuleMaster

I found another firm in Germany that claim they are the genuine suppliers of the part to Porsche, however their price is a bout double to modulemaster.

Again thanks so much for you help everyone and your reassurances that it can be done.

Matey if I can do it, believe me ANYONE can do it. Very simple actually 2.5/10 All up about 45 mins from taking it out of the car and re-installing in car

The LCD was USD$50
Unfortunately the postage to me was almost the same, but I had no choice I needed it, car looks prettier now

I had Modulemaster rebuild mine and it's like new now. Long story short - FedEx lost the unit on it's way back to me. Modulemaster sent me another one but it blew a fuse each time I tried to install it, so there are wiring differences in units that look the same. Modulemaster took responsibility and told me to buy a new one from Porsche at their cost. Just as I was about to do that my original one turned up after two weeks with FedEx.
They also sell a DIY kit, but their cost is so reasonable that why mess with it?
