Here is an explanation and the right place to download the software, and buy the cable. I bought mine used from this forum, but it is a genuine durametric cable.

I dove into the code to see what version and its Version 3.1 Durametric from 2005.
Ancient history but probably a bit more useful than a standard OBDII reader if you still have Windows XP or lower hanging around.
If you go to the Duramtric site and look up the version history you will be able to see all the things you can not do with version 3.x
These cloned applications don't work very well and crash a lot, hence all the version updates to the Durametric software since v3.x.
Just saying... but like I said, useful for reading those custom Porsche codes.

OK - I'll pick up where JFP left off. It's been a tough week for a few threads on this forum...
The Durametric software is a great diagnostic tool to have for any Porsche owner.
Why not just plan to pony up and pay for the current version and support the developers. It's not that expensive!

It's not about the chinese cable. Got the software from a chinese seller that named it piwis cable. Maybe I should rename the link.

To be honest, I don't even know durametric before I came here. I have lurked this forums for a while and have learned a lot.
