My new (pre owned) 2002 Boxster S
I purchased a 2002 S with 49K miles last week. This is my 4th Porsche in 20 years, the others being a 1977 911, 1983 944 and a 1997 Boxster. The 911 needed a complete rebuild which I knew when I purchased it, the 944 and Boxster never had any issues in the short time I owned them.
So far I love my new S; although, after reading the IMS thread I am depressed!!
My bad, should have joined this forum prior to my purchase. One good thing is the dealer provided a Carfax that revealed consistent dealer maintenance records from the original owner.
Can anyone recommend an experienced, trustworthy Porsche Shop in Connecticut?

don't be de depressed. The IMS can be fixed in a day if you act early or you can take your chances until its time to replace the clutch. I personally favor bumping up the clutch job to kill two birds with one stone and put it all out of your mind. LNE also sells an early warning device called the Guardian if you decide decide to wait but want some piece of mind at the same time.

Car looks nice enjoy. Welcome to the forum. There are Three things you can do about the IMS pull your oil filters each change and inspect them for metal flake, and change the oil more often. OR, Replace the IMS with an upgrade. OR do nothing gamble there are a lot of 100K car on the forum.

While I can't personally vouch for this establishment, I've heard great things about them........and their shop is in my home town. About 40 minutes from you.

Chris Musante at Porsche Service CT - Porsche Repair & Service by Musante Motorsports in Windsor. One of the most knowledgeable, experienced in New England. His shop is top notch, high quality and always full of road going cars, race cars of various vintage, etc. You will not be disappointed... I've yet to find anyone comparable in GA since relocating.

Welcome and nice car! It is a good sign that on your 5th Porsche, you returned to Porsche.
Just drive the car like it was meant to be driven, and look closely at the oil filter at every oil change. I have 79k miles on mine since 2002 and 40+ track days, will probably do the ims at the next clutch job.
Btw, the guys on the corvette forum are ********************ting bricks over the "valve guide premature wear, and dropping a valve" problem for the C6 Z06's.
Same with the Saleen forum and superchargers on the S281/S302 SC's "leaking oil that you cannot detect" and then it running dry causing major catastrophe.
EVERY car has an achilles heel!!!!!!!!
