What I got to play with this past weekend!

Hey guys! Thought I'd drop in what went down this past weekend. I was in Vegas with my brother and some friends. Boy, did we have a blast!

Some teasers:

Basically we were testing out some supercars to rent for the weekend for my brother's Bachelor party. Got to drive an F430, Murcielago Spyder, Aston Martin DB9, and a base Gallardo. Ended up with the Gallardo.

Got some beer in the process:

We all brought along our own cars (save me, I was driving brother's 911 Turbo), and boy did we have a blast. Took the cars up to Red Rock Canyon and had turns driving each other's vehicles. Among the convoy was a souped up E90 M3, a stock Jaguar XF Supercharged, and my brother's souped up 996TT.

I could talk all day about the other cars, but let's just talk about the Lambo (because you all probably want to hear about that, and it was the car we went to the rentals for anyways).
Man, was this thing the center of attention. The noise alone was sex, and we purposely got it because of the bright *stare at me* green and the rapper-style wheels. We couldn't drive anywhere without turning heads and getting our photos taken. Guess that's what being a rockstar feels like. Just driving down the strip, people would wave, kids would jump up and down, and people pulled out phones to take photos.
As for driving experience, I can't say it was too great. It was actually the *slowest* car in our convoy. Visibility was extremely poor, the handling was kinda shoddy, and the tiptronic gearbox (all they had) was really slow and dumb. The interior felt like it was almost kit-car'ed together. The leather was good quality, but it just didn't feel solid. Nothing like the F430, Aston Martin, or Jaaaag. On par with the M3 and the 911. To be fair, the car is a rental, so it probably got whore'd around a lot. Plus, I'm almost sure it had piston rings or something bad, because it would constantly puff blue smoke and reek of oil after hard revving (and there was a lot of hard revving).

Overall, I've concluded that you don't buy a Lamborghini for the driving experience. You might buy it for the straight line speed (the Jaguar left it in the dust), but the real reason you buy a Lamborghini is for the flash; for the "STARE AT ME, I DEMAND YOUR ATTENTION" curves and the "HEAR ME ROAR" engine note.

The Jaaaaag!

I LOVED THE JAG!

The interior was the best out of all the cars, including the rentals! IT WAS SO COMFORTABLE! And such a sleeper! Killed the Lambo in a drag and on the hill climb. And it was so quiet doing it! It comfortably sat four people, and had soooo much torque to put down!

A few things.

First and foremost, it was cheapest.

Second, of the cars pictured, it had the brightest, most obnoxious color. And those wheels.... ugh. But definitely guaranteed to turn heads. We already knew performance wise, our cars were better, so we were in it all for flash.
The Murcielago was black, so that was out of the question. Same with the Aston Martin. The F430 was the only real contender, and because it was such a better car (visibility, build quality, etc.), we really wanted to get that... But alas, regular Ferrari red didn't have a chance against "WHAT THE HELL" green.

The Exiges and Vipers weren't even worth looking at.

I'm heading to Vegas this weekend and was looking into renting an exotic and would love to get a Ferrari but the mileage limits suck - you can barely get outside of Vegas. Or you pay a ton more of what you're already paying a high price for...I wanted to get out to a park and cruise.

We got 100 free miles + 25 per day. We only used 85 including the mountain drive and cruising around the strip.

Roster pic our Bachelor party:

Here's a rolling shot. You can see the 996's reflection in the green

love the VI Gallardo ... wicked color.

agree that defo somethin wrong with it .. if its pumpin out blue smoke - sure sign of oil seepage.

curious how many miles was on it? usually doesnt happen unless it has a huge # of miles on it.

the e-gear on the early models werent the best invention either

LOL! That is the way to party! And I love the "beer getting" shot with the Lambo.

Unfortunately for you, that Lambo had some serious performance robbing problems (although it looked great). I have had the very lucky opportunity to sample 20+ Gallardos on a semi autocross/road course at Vegas Speedway for a full day, and it is no slouch. Granted you will always feel some understeer with the AWD, but it should be about the same performance as your brother's 996TT.

Did you guys eat at the little dumpling place upstairs, or the wonton noodle soup place downstairs at the Asian strip mall? ; )

Just had some dim sum. My brother's 996TT pulls 600 hp, so I doubt even the Lambo could keep up with it haha. Although I may be wrong.

Yes, I am pretty sure this Lamborghini has been thoroughly whored.

Lol! Now you have to stock up on those Vietnamese sandwiches! Hey...how about stuffing thirty of those sandwiches into the gallardo frunk and take a pic!!!!!!!

Most lambos only have 5-20k miles on them after 5-6 years, so that green one is just about to have its wheels fall off.

While in Vegas three years ago my wife offered to rent me an exotic car for the day. After some research I decided to go to ExoticsRacing instead:

Exotic car driving experience

I took a Lambo and Ferrari for 5 laps each of the track. Drove them the way they are meant to be, rather than stuck in traffic. I highly recommend it.
