I'd really consider a 2-way over the 3-way. easier to deal with the crossover, easier to deal with the amp, and much easier to "dial" it in.

+1 on choosing a quality 2-way speaker. Better value in most hifi applications.

These are probably worth a look. Decent bass and smooth natural response. High sensitivity so they get loud with less power needed. A Boxster on the highway is not exactly an ideal music listening environment but these Focals should be easy on the ears and true to the music.
