Question Alternate tire size options for 17" Sport Classic wheels?

I'm looking to replace all 4 tires and think the stock front tire size is too narrow. I'm thinking about running 225-50 up front and the current 255 width in the rear is fine with me but what other tire spec have you guys ran on the stock Boxster 17" wheels?

Note: I'm aware that if I do go with 225 front then the speedo will be off by 3% but will gain some comfort.

Sport Classic Wheel Spec:
Front: 17x7 ET55
Rear: 17x8.5 ET50

It's been 2 weeks since ownership and I finally got to wash and wax her...

225/45/17 will retain your 25" total diameter and give you more grip up front. A good choice.

Needs some help.....I have a 2005 Boxster with the following tire sizes:

Front: 205/55/ZR17
Back: 235/50/ZR17

Are you saying the 225/45/17 can go on the front? What are the advantages? How about the back? Should/can I put 255/?/17 on the back? Recommendations? Regards!

Yes, go 225/45/17 Front and 255/40/17 on rear. Those sizes have matching diameters so no impact to speedometer or ABS performance. These are the tire sizes that almost every Boxster runs.

The advantage to the 225 fronts is a bit more front end grip and thus, slightly less understeer for more balanced handling.

I ran 265/40/17 in back for a while. It looked and rode fine. I later noticed that the minimum width for 265's was nine inches. I'm kind of a stickler for following wheel/tire width specs so I replaced with 255's the next time around.
