The interesting thing about this number of only the compensated failures, estimated by the plaintiffs' lawyers, is that it roughly mirrors the number of failures reported by Rennlist members in separate Boxster, 996 and 997 Carrera polls. Obviously these poll numbers are very, very flawed but still somewhat intrguing. Out of 757 poll respondents, those who have reported IMS failures numbered 50 or roughly 7%. Coincidence? Probably... Who knows...
The more interesting thing to me is that the number of people who had their IMS bearings upgraded in those polls (thus responding "no ims failure") is probably much higher than you would find outside of an enthusiast forum where the average out of warranty Boxster or water-cooled Carrera owner still has no idea what an IMS is.
