Lithium batteries are between 70-100% recyclable. The problem is lithium is so cheap, there's little financhial incentive to do it.
Unfortunately , due to EU's over zealous carbon emissions laws, and the US MPG laws coming into effect, even companies like Porsche will have to looks at "hybrid" tech to meet these crazy quotas.
