Sun visor sticker removal- simplified
So I bought the "vinyl cover up/cut outs" to make my sun visors look.....better.
Great quality and it was a great transaction on Ebay....I certainly hate to take business away from this guy but there is an easier way.
While in the process of getting ready to slather some silicon on my car to make these stick- I used some wax/de-greaser to clean the surface- it is for automotive plastic-(among other surfaces) the label wiped off in less than a minute.
I've read the other posts about using denatured alcohol with some heavy scrubbing. It took me 5 minutes to do both visors (both labels on each)
1. Grab several paper towels to wrap around sun visor- This will protect the seats from over-spray and remnants of the sticker.
2. Spray the sticker- Just a few quick shots to cover the sticker. Let it sit for about a minute- ADVANCE AUTO ($8.95)
3. Wipe the sticker off.
4. I used 409 to clean and then wiped it down with Armor-all
For the "AIR BAG" decal on the other side- I sprayed a little on a cotton cloth and a little on the decal and wiped it a few times and it wiped off just as easy.

No ill effects that I can see. I'm guessing that leaving the spray on overnight may not be a good idea.
The can says it contains hydrochloric acid? Just kidding...looks like it is alcohol based.

I'd be a bit worried that that would make the plastic brittle. I used a removal product and it worked great but after a month the plastic just broke apart. I ended up searching e-bay for European visors. They don't have the warning and for under $100 US I got a pair shipped to me.

I'm sure I'll get slammed but I used paint thinner. Came of instantly and did zero damage. I then dyed it with the same dye I used on the seats after I restored them. My visors look like new.

I used Home Page | Leatherique Restoration Products but you could use any water based dye. Dilute it a little and blend with the rest of the visor.

Simple: Bought news one from Suncoast for $20 each. But then both of mine were broken.

Wow; that stuff worked well and is strong.....sticker came right off. I timed it one minute exactly. It took a little of the finish off on the cover and where I had not covered the visor. I used some premier Liquid black shoe polish to put a finish back on the places that had been dulled. It's actually shinier than ever after running the shine sponge across it.

Let me save yall some time.
Paint thinner did nothing.
Oven cleaner took it off layer by layer. Messy.
Lacquer thinner takes it off in real time. Rotate rag frequently. Just dab some on the rag tip. No effect to visor that I can see.

Where the acetone gone? Safe on any composites...
No need for home depot... just locate wife's manicure kit. Don't get caught

Let me clarify, I looked at the can, it was Paint and Varnish Remover in gel form. Very strong. Probably stronger than nail polish remover.
It did zero damage to the visor other than a little fading. Using a nice water based dye they actually looked new. I showed them to many other folks at car shows who had done their own with other methods and it was night and day. They didn't actually believe me.
If you are near Charlotte come by, I have 16oz of dye left.

The problem I had was the paint thinner and other cleaners weaken the plastic, especially in the South Florida sun and heat. Simple solution is to go on Ebay UK and buy European visors. They come without the stupid sticker. There was a company in the States that was selling them, I can't recall the price, but it was cheaper to buy off ebay. If you are getting things shipped from there just make sure the seller is willing to send them to the US.

Fyi, the lacquer thinner works just as well on the decal on the bottom of the visor. Pics later but they are all gone and visor is 100%.
