Paintboy what is your damage? Does your ex drive a convertible with a red top? Or maybe you got dumped by a redhead for spending too much time in the garage. 5 posts to protest a top color most of us consider sharp and very "porsche" just seems too much. Even for a purist, a non-stock top color is among the lesser evils committed against these cars in the name of individualization.
My vote is in favor, though I agree there should be some tie-in to the interior, even if only dash bars painted to match.

Yep, agree that a tie in to the interior is necessary for it to look distinguished.

As far as being different, to each their own right, I mean all of us choose to drive a Porsche instead of the run of the mill car, so may as well bask in our non-conformity and show off.

In the end there is only one person the color has to please.....the wife Sad but true!

Guys, thanks for your various views. The fact that today's choice includes a silver car with a red top, means something- to me at least. And by the way, my interior is a full leather Boxster Red with lots of Carbon Fibre

Just having fun...did not think so many people would be so put off by joking. It's just a car. My car is arctic silver, but I have a gray interior..I'm stuck with a black top pretty much. Maybe deep down inside I have interior color envy. Thank you for pointing this out. You have saved me thousands on therapy.

Question

What's the hang up with top having to match interior? Unwritten
code of style? May hurt resale? I understand it wouldn't match
factory original, but I'm no purist.

I might be getting a replacement top via insurance and want to
go with red. 01 base Seal Gray / grey int. Decided on glass window
and A5 acoustic, but waffling on color... Seen all the recs to stay
with black; grey looks good but shows dirt too easily; but I love
the red contrast. How bout if I just buy some red floor mats?
Can I get a witness?

I have a seal grey 2002...Black top, light grey interior. I would never switch away from the black. My car is pretty stealthy black and grey with black logo down the side. But I have to say...I LOVE THE RED top!

The red on the silver looks pretty slick IMO. Go for what makes you happy. We want pics though when you are done!

Jojo, that red interior is the best one I have seen spec'd so far:dance:...just the right amount of red with black combo and the silver/metal accents. The only problem is the steering wheel in on the "gnorw edis"

Hmm...Hooties, I have seal grey with grey interior like you and have contemplated about the bordeaux top. I currently have the grey top which also looks really cool.

Thanks for the positive vibes!

Mine is a Robbins with glass. I'm told it's comparable to GAHH in quality. Bordeaux is the color; seems it's a little darker than some of the others posted on this page. I like it but the jury's still out.

The installer didn't do the helper straps correctly and I had to take it back once; cable popped out again the other day...

986_c6 I considered gray, and I think it looks better. But heard too many negatives about it showing dirt.

I mostly drive it this-a-way anyway, with just a sliver of red showing:
