What did you do with/to your Boxster today?

I'd be interested in that too....mine works fine, but its too wobbly to hold in a phone charger, even after bending in the side tabs in the barrel.

Cigarette lighter replacement

It is a very easy project. I was most concerned about prying off the panel and breaking something since it is plastic but I used a plastic pry tool and it popped right off. I had ordered the part beforehand and had it as a reference as to how the parts snap together which helped to know how to remove the old parts from the panel.

New one is standard size so much better for fitting chargers and such in them. I don't actually need the lighter itself. I don't have the ashtray either, replaced it with the little delete unit and like that much better.

Bought new rear tires yesterday, Michelin Pilot A/S 3.

Went to HF at lunch and pickled up a 2T low profile (2 5/8") floor jack and 4 jack stands (in preparation of doing my brakes someday soon). Ordered the Liftbars last night too. Just need to decide if I'm going to just do pads and rotors, pads and rotors and paint calipers on the car or off the car, or complete rebuild with seals and powder coat the calipers.

I'm dying my rear carpets black with Rit dye. They had sun bleaches until it looked like the car had gray hair. Well see how they look after they dry.

I could never get Rit dye more than dark purple. It may look black in the shade, but definitely purple in the sun.

I put new Bosch aero twins on and after a few eels the driver side one is vibrating slightly and squeaking. It looked like the plastic connector on the wiper was wearing so I swapped it out for a standard Bosch one. That's doing the same now. It looks fine. Can't figure it out.

Well, since I just bought mine a few days ago...(and I'm new to the 986 forum)...I have a good list of stuff I'm doing "this week":

New Boshe wipers
oil change
De-Amber (everything)
Second Porsche key (yikes! $350)
New rear window (damn previous owners...)
Battery tender charger (weekend toy only)
Remove locking lug bolts (23mm 12 point for the win!)
New Intake (nice sound!)
Pedro's Garage exhaust mod (yea, punching holes in stock exhaust hehe)
Leather dash reconditioning - looks amazing now!

Wife is just going to have to find something to do for a few days without me....

Just took ownership of a Xenon conversion kit for my headlamps but not sure whether to fit them or not as it involves drilling a hole in the rear of the headlamp unit and tapping into the headlamp loom. I could always fit a rubber bung I suppose. Might look nice considering I have the non-Litronic headlamps. Colour temp of the ones I got are 10k.

Anyway, the kit consists of ballast units, wiring and 2 x HiD bulbs.

Has anyone done this?

My Boxster is unfortunately still garaged around 400 miles from where I live, but I did book a service with a well known Porsche mechanic and I also ordered new rotors and pads.

Looking at it as I start the snowblower to get rid of all this white crap falling on my driveway...and last week i was out with the top down. Stupid weather.

Replaced brake pads and rotors this week. Used Hawk ceramics to hopefully reduce brake dust. I ended up buying new dampeners since mine looked a little worn but not positive I needed new ones ($170 for all four corners). Also flushed (most of) the system. First time I've ever had it up on four jack stands too. I'm not entirely comfortable with getting all four wheels up yet, car leans quite a bit when jacking it up lol. Also did not bleed the clutch. I finally found the bleed nipple but simply could not reach it since car was on lowest settings of the jacks and didn't feel safe enough to squeeze under the car to get to it.
