When lubing things you should take into account how the mechanism works and then choose a wet or dry lube accordingly.

Just remember that things that get sticky type lubes should be either enclosed or not exposed to dirt that could potentially act like an abrasive on the mechanism.

I like dry lubes on things with gears and/or tracks so they don't have abrasive materials stick to them and wear them out prematurely.

Personally, I would use dry graphite on the spoiler mechanism.(Be damn careful for over spray though as its a mess if you shoot something you don't want black)

Perhaps its already straining because the spoiler mechanism is already jammed up with abrasives.

More likely though a misalignment somewhere in the system.
