I really don't want to replace the whole thing. Can I just replace the plastic? I don't mind even going for glass rear window (with defroster). Any one in Long Island does this by any chance? Searched but couldn't find any.

Thanks.
I was looking on ebay and they have entire tops with GLASS rear windows for less than $500

might want to just go that route while you're replacing it, I know I will if my rear plastic cracks

Can't beat $300. A few coats of Raggtopp and my canvas looks brand new, seems like a waste to replace the whole thing just to get a new window.
While glass is nice and covenient I think the frame hardware has stretched a bit too much to put new canvas over it, its going to be be a few inches short to be a OEM fit. I went through this hassle with a previous convertible and it was a royal PITA.
Well you do notice the stitch work more than before from the inside since they cut out a shape of plastic about 0.5 inch longer all around than the original window. But from the outside, it looks just like original.

I don't like the glass window Boxsters because it has worse visibility than plastic windows. The glass windows are too small and awkward looking.

Sold.
I guess what it looks like from the inside doesn't really matter.
I'll have to give them a call maybe I can get in during the holiday break.
I've been staring at that one inch rip for a year now. And I have no desire to spend an extra $1,100 for a glass top and installation. I'd rather use the caysh towards a hardtop

And the old top is off. My body aches with all the reaching out and bending. Wasn't that challenging but, the Pelican steps are missing some critical details. Figured it out by thinking patiently. Gave the engine a good wash while I was in there.

Now waiting for the goodies to arrive tomorrow - top, filters, brake pads, fuel filter etc. Should be a fun weekend.

Put the new roof in. The one I got from ebay didn't have the leather channel in the front stitched. So goofed up by cutting a couple grooves. Don't ask! Now

Anyway, all snug and tight and the roof doesn't close all the way. I had to pull it toward the windshield and lock it. This it needs to be heated and stretched? Right now it's in a locked position but the rear cover is kind of lifted up. Given that the aftermarket one didn't have the markings for the creases I had to do a good guess but might have misjudged. Might have to redo the rear once again as I might have pulled it way too tight. Other than that it seems pretty nice with just a couple of wrinkles which might go away if it closes all the way.

Need some advice from folks who have done this before. Thanks,
