Check your upper strut mounts for excessive play or wear, and make sure that the bolts on the top of the strut mounts are correctly torqued.

Check the front track bars as the rubber link points degrade and become loose over time.

I would then check for steering rack issues at a qualified shop.

Any recent work have you done that may have caused this behavior?

problem was there with old tyres, it got slightly better with new tyres and alignment but it has progressively got worse over the last few weeks.

i took it to my local specialist and they thought it was balancing but after having balancing done a 2nd time its still the same.

this is a classic symptom of a bad ball joint or tie rod.

jack up the car. grab a front wheel and twist it side to side & pull it to & fro. one of them will have some play in it. replace the lower control arm or tie rod on that side.

i have similar issues on my 03S with 52k. i was assuming something was worn out up front. my previous Boxster did not have that shimmy or wobble feel coming through the steering wheel .
