FOR SALE 2005 Boxster S engine victim of IMS failure!

Hello,

I'm selling a 3.2l (280hp) complete engine out of a 42023 miles Porsche Boxster S 6 speed manual transmission. It is a victim of the IMS failure.

The engine got shut down immediately after some smoke appeared at the exhaust followed by oil leaking on the floor.

The engine got removed from the car. A Porsche mechanic find that the timing went got off and that the damage to the engine is hard to evaluate unless taking the engine apart.

Could be minor damage or very bad...

Shoot me an offer.

So there it is huh... the IMS victim. This is what it looks like..... wow

I was telling myself I'd never get to see a "real" victim. Hoping, forcing myself to believe, this IMS thing was a just myth, a legend in another word.

Shattered, it is sad to see tell ya

Hello,
The engine is in Nashville TN USA. But I don't mind ship worldwide for the right money.

Not a myth...

two boxster in my neighborhood and both are on the second engine. What bothers me is that I got the 2005 + replacement engine that was supposed to be the "fix".
Now that 2005s are failing...yikes.

Yes it's real!

Poor bearing failure... I still can't believe it that they kept the same design!

Hmm. Interesting title to this post if the engine hasn't been opened up and IMSB failure confirmed. Several other failures can result in timing changed and oil leaking.

IMS bearing is toasted. You don't need to open the engine to see that...
remove the front water pump cover and the transmission to have access to the IMS bearing holder.

I have myself access to a couple of endoscopic tools. I will try to get some shots but still... Fixing Porsche misdesign is making me mad...

Do you know somebody that could help for the warranty?
