I totally agree, A "puddle" of oil is something that you should not be taking chances. If it is a couple of "drops" of oil, it is something that could still wait for a RMS leak.

Sounds like your throttle body is dirty. Take it apart and clean it. A bad MAF would more than likely throw a CEL would even put you in a dead stall with the symptoms you mentioned

It's just a serpentine belt, not a timing belt. If it is not properly tensioned your ac compressor, power steering might, water pump operation would be compromised. I doubt a major engine damage...

I totally agree...Most RMS leaks will occur in the first 5k-45k miles. IMO, a 986 or 996 that does not leak within the 1st 5-45k miles has less chances of leaking later on.
Maintenance is the key...
