996 springs on 986?

After many failed attempts to buy springs at a discount, here I go again...

Anybody know if 996 springs would fit on a 986? I got a lead on some lowering springs for a 996, and even though the part number is different than a boxster's, I need to know if it will fit.

no, they won't fit. wrong spring rates, and the rears are the wrong diameter and load. the best deal you'll find on 986 lowering springs would be the RoW M030 springs, which are available new from sunset imports for around $200.

Hey insite, will the RoW springs lower the car that much?

If you watch ebay, and the classifieds of this board and others you can find them used.

I just let a set of Elbachs go for under 150.

If you want to save money you always have to be on the look out for the parts you want. From what I have learned is the faster you want something the more you will pay for it.

I paid under 500 for a carbon console
Again under 500 for a brand new FVD stearing wheel. I have spare headlights (something about getting though inspection with my headlights) I have picked up and paid less than 200 for each of them. Its all about knowing what pieces you need and waiting for the opportunity.

Growing up the car magazines said how amazing Porsches are. Was I brainwashed? Somehow...I doubt it.

ROW 030 springs will approximately lower the front 20mm and 10mm rear .

Appreciate it guys. I don't want to go throught the expense of lowering it for the RoW. I would like to go down eibach level.

Gary, you are right about waiting for parts. I actually let a set of brand new eibach's go 6 months ago for 180. I never thought I would install them, now I want them again. I browse classifieds for all the long term parts that I want, but do not need.

Very true on watching the boards...I picked up a brand new set of H&R sport springs for my S on Pelican for under $200. The seller bought them and traded his car on a 996 in the interim. Just today, I purchased Fabspeed cat bypass pipes from a member of this board.
