My smoke test
I did a smoke test on my 02' 2.7 1 small leak somewhere around Vacuum canister and a bunch coming out of my air box, I attached the smoke tube to the AOS tube just passed the TB I'am not sure why smoke came out of air box,..I did NOT remove the oil cap at the time ,So Iam guessing it pushed by the TB flapper back to the air box correct ?? Thanks Frank
PS. a new AOS and a new MAF still idles bad still get codes 1238,..Secondary fuel pump something and still misfire's on 4,5,and 6 and still A loud sucking noise when I rev it up..Thanks

its possible that the throttle body resting position is not fully closed.

I would say that a closed throttle isn't tight enough to stop the smoke. Totally normal.

I did a visual ispection as i was cleaning it up from the bad AOS, So it does seem to close tight, but air must be getting by no other way for smoke to get back to that air box

No way you'll get the TB to seal tightly enough to stop smoke getting past it. Most of us would put a rubber-glove over the TB, or stick a rubber ball in its mouth, or something.
The added benefit of this is you'll be dramatically reducing the volume of air you're displacing with the smoke, meaning the leak you DO have should become MUCH more obvious.

Ahh,..ok..So i will tape off that. TB opening and test it again. Thanks Maytag..didnt think about all that wasted smoke/ air presure. !

LOL..Dang..that has a gap for sure,Mine is not that bad,..( if that is bad ) mine seems to close well and no obvious gaps,..I was thinking maybe a good time to do the 996/997 TB upgrade. ?? Thanks, for that pic

Did you hold it up against a bright light source, or did you just look at it while still mounted on the inlet? Big difference!

Hey Anker,..No I didnt but I will ,..when I was cleaning it beforeI just didnt notice any light thru it.So now of course iam curious..

I wouldn't bother taking it off to see if you see light through it....... 
You can COUNT on it.

Yea Iam sure I would see some..its gotta pivot and its not a air tight part,.I just thought it would be a part that was machined to a tight tolerance .

I have the intake off now anyway looking for that vacuum leak,..So far a broken line ( little black plastic one) coming from the vacuum canister to the SAI switch valve ,..and the oil tube housing base that bolts to the top of the case has a cracked ear,.where the bolt goes thru so Iam hoping this solves my issue's
BUT..that AOS is still blowing oil into my intake even after I drained about 2 quarts.
