As for you're "drone" issue, have you looked at Bruce's fix?

This Borla muffler sounds good to me on a 04 Boxster S!

I have this same Borla system on my 2000 S, drones like a maddog! Lots of great burble and popping. HOWEVER, when I installed the Top Speed test pipes (secondary cat deletes), the volume and drone were both significantly lowered! Makes them quite livable, and I can get away with a 92db day at Laguna Seca :-)

Are those NHP Headers on your car?
Also, damn your car is clean underneath.

Don't mean to hijack the thread but, I have a question to any long term Fabspeed owners out there. What is the life expectancy for the wire wrapped section of the pipes? I ask because I looked recently at a 2006 Base Boxster with 130,000 mi and the wire wrapped section had a hole blown out. The exhaust was installed by the previous owner, but the current owner claimed it was a trouble free car w/3 years and 70k miles with no maintenance performed........

I wish i had have taken a picture before hand, but the inside of the mesh is lined with another flex pipe and its all stainless. They use the same material on many VW's, Audi's etc from the header pipe down... and yes they often break after 100K and have to be replaced - but at the same time they ease installation, reduce vibration transfer and allow some flexibility to ease stress on fixed mountpoints...
I know the VW ones generally go after about 150,000kms but they sell clamp in replacements for about $60 so its not that bad. I'm sure these wont be quite that cheap, but if they last 50,000 miles i'll be good for another 15 years

No just the stock headers for now... at least this way there is no CEL issues as the pre/post O2 sensors are kept in place in their original location; But from the flange back its all Fabspeed Thanks by the way, its not easy to keep it clean under there, but I try

Thanks for the feedback guys - much appreciated. Shame that the 986 has the flex piping and the 987 and on stuff doesn't. Never did understand that.
If either of you don't mind, did you buy direct from Fabspeed or use a third-party reseller? If the latter, which one?
Thx.

The flex piping allows it to move a little and probably reduces the drone slightly
as well. I had one bad flex piece I guess these things happen.... for the price you
wouldn't think so, but hey I've seen worse. At least Fabspeed was good about the
repair I would have been a lot more upset if they hadn't fixed it for free.
I ordered mine through European Road and Racing and had it shipped directly to my address. (ask for Charles) :-)

I bought directly through FabSpeed. The guys there are very knowledgeable about their product. I called them several times and they were great to work with as I was modding my car a little at a time. The last thing I am going to do is send them my ECU so they can flash it.
