3.6 Engine what next
Most have read or looked at my last years winter project post. The engine refurbish was a big success in my opinion. But in that quest for ever more power here is a question for the serious knowledge Motor tuners. One of the few thing I did not do while building this project as I was running out of cash. Was replace all the lifter and the carriers. I do have a slight tap from idle to 2000 rpm from a lifter on cylinder 4. I know the I told you so'er are now going to say you should have replaced them while it was apart.
1. Is there any significant change in the 2005-06 987cams The carriers and the lifters are different numbers and so are the cams. The cam Varriable timing sprockets are the same. Does anyone with experience know if they would fit, and run in 2004 heads?
2. Is there a replacement cam set that give a more HP, and still use the same style lifted and carrier?

When you change cams you should gain power in certain rpm range & lose power in other rpm range, so if you are willing to make that trade & pay the costs. ($$$)
The 1st step I would take is to send a E-mail to Flat6innovations to see what they offer/recommend. Be very specific & detailed on you engine mods & what you want to gain. They may have discontinued this service without full engine rebuild inhouse.

We are so slammed that we can only carry out complete turnkey engines. Its all we can do to keep up with our own engine components for these builds, especially cams and head work.

Jake thanks.
I'm not looking for a shop to do something to my heads just information on cams and the possible differences if any between the 2005-06 3.2 engine and the 2004 Spyder exspecially the cams and how they got the additional HP or was it just tuning.
At the very least I was going to pull the tops off again this winter and replace the lifters and carriers.

Tuning only.. The internals of the engine are exacting, the factory wouldn't cost themselves money by actually changing something. That engine is special to us, its just another 3.2.
