Anyone running the spec legal H&R rearsway bar?

I have a front Tarrett bar but need to upgrade the rear one. The H&R bar seems like a bargain at $250 and doesn’t need adjustable drop links. It only has three adjustment holes compared to five on the Tarrett bar but I don’t think I need that much adjustment

Cheers,

I would call H&R and see if they can give you the specs of that bar, diameter, wall thickness, and hole centers, and run the math and see how it compares with the Tarett bars. That said, i think Insite runs the gt3 front bat with H&R rear bar with good results.

heavy and stiff - depending on your setup may create a loose rear. would a cayman bar be spec legal?

Only the Tarett Model 986RSBA and H&R Model 71779 bars (rear) are legal for Boxster spec racing.

If the H&R bar is spec legal then it probably is a good match for the Tarett front bar, would be interesting to see where it is in the stiffness spectrum.

I have a spreadsheet, but I think it is in my other computer, that you can plug in the wall thickness, diameter, and hole spacing, and it will give you the precentages of stiffness relative to the OEM bars, similar to this Tarett chart:

TL;DR: the H&R rear is STIFF

I run H&R rear @ full soft + GT3 front at full soft -1 and it is great for autocross with my RE-71Rs (265r/235f) and ksport coilovers (something like 500#r/300#f).
But I like my cars a little loose.

FYI, There seems to be a large move around here among the spec guys to go back to a stock base rear sway bar.

Great, What setting are you all running the front bar at? Maybe my problem is the front bar is just set to stiff. I’m running a square setup but have a little understeer at low speeds.

When I ran BSX I set the front bar full soft and the rear bar also full soft while running square NT-01. When I ran staggered I set the rear bar 2 off full soft. Toyo RR generates more grip and might benefit from more bar F/R.

My driving style works best with some movement during weight transfer and I don't like a car that is too stiff and tied down. The other issue is that an LSD is not Spec legal so if the rear is too stiff you get a ton of inside wheel spin on corner exit. By softening the rear the car generates better grip and is quicker out of the corners.
