It's probably heresy to mention on a Porsche forum but Autozone sells a 986 Boxster 5 speed axle for about $115 with a "lifetime warranty"...

Personally I'd trust a home repack/reboot over an Autozone axle, but I'd probably do that over buying new OEM porsche axles.
