you know Iatros when I hear someone say something like this I know right away I'm dealing with someone with virtually no experience of driving a car on a track or someone who has never really had any sort of high performance driving instruction.
Some of the most knowledgable sports car people I know have had or currently own Boxsters. All kinds of people, guys who own GT3's, M3's, Lotus, Lambo, Ferrari you name it. But not just guys who buy these cars and never take them out of the garage! I'm talking about guys who will spend big big money on a sports car and then spend even more on track modifications. Well, they all say the same thing, for a driver, its a true "slot car" superior handling to most of the sports cars you will see at the track on any given day, including the M3 (and its inferior brakes).

Many 'posers' don't understand the concept of a roadster. They think they are ALL chick cars. Some hard core enthusiasts will tell you the purest sporst car is the roadster because its the most impractical and made solely for driving pleasure.

Plain and simple: The Boxster is the roadster of the Porsche brand.
And its the roadster all others compare their cars to. I've seen this recently in two different car magazines where they were reviewing the Z4 and the Turbo Solstice and decided to compare both against the Boxster as the yardstick to measure by.

Sports cars come in many flavors: roadsters, GT's, coupes, exotics
people who don't understand this should not be listened to.
They wouldn't know trail braking from trail mix.

That's like the pot calling the kettle black. M3?? Any BMW?? LOL They're lubricated with estrogen.

I've never heard that about any Porsche. Although I'm sure the young V8 muscle car guys would dis any car that way. Should hear what they say about Beemers and their drivers.

The Probe was a chick car...LOL...hence the name

I've heard the Miata(old body shape) described as a chick car. Z28 and Trans Ams with slush drive are often viewed as chick cars. Any of the front wheel drive convertibles are chick cars. The SUV has become the new soccer mom vehicle(up here in the great northeast).

Porsche club members could start wearing leather vests with club patches on the back("colors"). They could travel in huge packs and terrorize citizens on the roads and bust up a few bars. We could use nicknames like Mungo and Grizzly. And steal the manpurses of BMW drivers and run off with their sexually frustrated women. :-)

There are a few "chick cars" and none of these are sports cars. A chick car is not a fabrication or a delusion the car companies have identified certain models in their line ups that appeal overhwhelmingly to muchachas. They gear the marketing towards women with 'girlie' brochures. I also suspect there is a fair bit of gay research as well because the gay segment are rapidly growing in profile as a consumer group with rapidly rising incomes.

The beetle is the best example of a car that appeals to both these groups. I've personally known about 8 or 9 people who have owned this car in all its iterations (convertible, turbo, orange with orange wheels, etc) and all were female or gay or both.

other chick cars: Mazda Mx3, VW Cabriolet, BMW M3, Celica, Jeep LIberty, maxima.

p.s.

"The Boxster is a hairdresser's car"

LOL

That's funny because Emilio my hair dude drives a 911 Cabriolet (tip).

p.s.s.
one of the cars I listed is not a chick car, just having fun (just a glorified 3 series).

Dang!

I'm a happy Miata owner.

Then I find out that they are considered girly cars.......

Then I buy a Boxster, and now I find out IT'S considered a girl car......

I'm reconsidering my plans for that yellow Beetle Convert.
