Does your oil look like coffee with creamer in it? If so, yes.

When replacing coolant in these cars you need to use an air lift vacuum system or similar:
https://www.amazon.com/UView-550000-Airlift-Cooling-Checker/dp/B0002SRH5G/ref=asc_df_B0002SRH5G/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312174136943&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=15332782250118887666&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9031753&hvtargid=pla-435688359104&psc=1&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=63790029762&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=312174136943&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=15332782250118887666&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9031753&hvtargid=pla-435688359104

Hopefully your issue is not serious.

You don't NEED that.

There are many on here who have done it without that. I replaced my water pump and didn't use any special tools. I remember jacking up the back as high as possible when filling it and running it with the bleeder valve open for a while. I don't remember the exact steps, but the procedure can be found on here.

Hi Pipe!

Like you, I replaced my water pump and thermostat, and coolant. I opened the bleeder cap...and several times drove down a nice steep hill next to my home. Good or bad... I left the bleeder open for a few days while keeping an eye on the coolant level. Never had to add any then, nor since.

However... if I had a compressor, and the space to store it, likely I'd get that accu-appliance. When doing the math... I simply don't swap coolant enough to need the device.

Made that mistake with my whatever-brand-name brake bleeder. Worked great, but has been sitting for better than a year waiting for the next brake fluid replacement.

Cheers!

Same! I'm sure vacuum method would be great but I simply opened the bleeder and kept an eye on fluid levels for a few days....

Just depends on how many days you are willing to drive with air pockets in the system.

Hey Starter! It's been a while. I hope you've been well. IIRC, I got the idea of leaving the bleeder open from you. And someone else mentioned jacking up the back as high as I could when filling it.

Hey Boss.

I forgot that step... jacking up the rear. Yup
